Rogers shipped the first batch of Samsung Galaxy S II LTE devices to customers over the past couple weeks, and now we are getting reports stores across the country have received stock too (Vancouver to Toronto and Montreal). The GST LTE is their first LTE smartphone, the other is the HTC Raider, and it retails for 9.99 on a 3-year, 9.99 outright and Rogers has a promo happening now that gives users 10GB data for /month. If you’re planning on getting this it’s best to call your local Rogers to see if they have it in stock, just might be sold out already.

    Check it here at Rogers

Samsung sells 10 million Galaxy S II devices in just 5 months

Samsung has just announced that the Android-powered Galaxy S II has sold 10 million handsets worldwide, blowing past their previous record. Samsung stated in a press release that over the past 8 weeks they have doubled their sales from 5 million to 10 million. To put this into perspective, the original Galaxy S reached the 10 million mark in 7 months, the Galaxy S II has surpassed this milestone in just short 5 months. There’s no specific numbers for Canada, but other country sales are the following: South Korea has sold 3.6 million, 3.4 million in Europe and over 10 countries (probably including Canada) made up over 3 million.

JK Shin of Samsung said “Since its launch in late April 2011, the GALAXY S II has seen continued sales success, demonstrating Samsung’s industry-leading capabilities in – and commitment to – the smartphone market… In just five months the GALAXY S II has seen tremendous growth, reflecting its tremendous popularity with customers around the world, who in selecting the GALAXY S II as their device of choice have driven the device’s strong market position globally.”

In Canada, Bell, Virgin and SaskTel all sell the Galaxy S II. Rogers will be hopping on board soon with the LTE-enabled Galaxy S II, meanwhile TELUS is launching the powerful Galaxy S II X (Hercules) soon.

VerizonSamsungGalaxyTab10.1.JPGThe Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will have to be removed from sale throughout Europe due to a judgment in a German court.

The Regional Court of Dusseldorf granted Apple a preliminary injunction against the sale and marketing of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 across all of Europe except the Netherlands.

Samsung can appeal the injunction but in the meantime can not sell the tablets.

In the United States, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has gotten great reviews especially for the Verizon Wirless 4G model. Verizon Wireless  is encouraging buyers of smartphones to also buy a tablet such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Motorola Xoom or iPad 2 off as well as a savings of up to with free activation.

The Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S II 4G successfully launched in Canada last week, no word on how many were sold but it’ll certainly add to the global sales numbers. Samsung sold 1 million of the Galaxy S II in 30 days, then gained momentum as a confirmed statement by Samsung on July 3rd said they reached a record setting 3 million devices sold in just 55 days. Now,  according to rumours around the web is an unconfirmed report from Samsung stating that an astonishing 6 million Galaxy S II units have been sold worldwide in less than 3 months. Samsung Galaxy S Glitches Update: Nexus S Troubles – Reboots, Bluetooth Streaming & SMS

      Posted by Admin
      0 comments

    Thumbnail image for NexusS.jpg

Samsung Galaxy S phones have been in the spotlight recently for delayed Android 2.2 updates by carriers, class action lawsuits and hardware standby-death on the Samsung Captivate.  Now there is news that the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus S phone with Android 2.3 Gingerbread has “issues.”

The Nexus S received excellent reviews for its “pure Google experience,” with reviewers suggesting that pure Google updates would be faster.  Now owners have noticed a few problems, and they are reported to be “furious.”  Glitches experienced include forced, unexpected reboots during voice calls, SMS messaging troubles, streaming audio cut-offs, and the accelerometer stops working after using Google Skymap.

There is no clear reason yet for the problems that some forum members contend originated with the latest Over-The-Air (OTA) update to Android 2.3.1/GRH78 for reboots during calls.  A Google employee at the Google Mobile Help Forum responded with, “..we are getting close to tracking
down the root cause of the reboots during calls and are currently
testing a fix to resolve the issue.”

    The SMS errors include users
reporting messages sent to the wrong contacts, which is believed to be a
problem also with Android 2.2.  Google assigned a priority of “medium” to
the random bootup and text messaging bugs.  There has been no response
form Google regarding the Google Skymap glitch.

Recently, with the onslaught of very sophisticated smartphones, there have
been glitches reported after releases of the products.  With Verizon
offering the iPhone soon, it will be interesting to see if the iPhone
competitors can hold their market share on Verizon.

We received this email message yesterday from a disgruntled Samsung Captivate owner, commenting on our recent Samsung Captivate glitch article:

As a Captivate owner myself, I have had quite the Love/Hate relationship with this phone, now teetering more on the hate side.

I agree 100%, my GPS has not worked right since day one, and they have been promising a fix with an update since last October, all of which have not fixed the GPS.

I went ahead and bought an external Bluetooth GPS just to get it to work for navigation.  And the biggest reason I selected the Samsung Captivate is that I was tired of Apple not supporting Flash, and expected this phone to do so.

Well, 6 months later, I am now wishing I would have chosen to go with the iPhone 4 instead, or waited and got the Android Phone by a manufacturer that knows how to do it right, the Motorola line (Atrix).

Samsung Galaxy S smartphones in the U.S.all received excellent reviews, including the Samsung Epic 4G, Samsung Fascinate, Samsung Captivate, Samsung Continuum and Samsung Vibrant.
