  • HTC Evo 4G set to be released June 4th

Submitted to us from our SU Member: DannyNYC

    —————————————————————————————–

Quite possibly the biggest announcement in Sprint’s history – Sprint gets ready to grace us all with the HTC EVO 4G. Available June 4th for purchase at 9.99, it’s currently available for pre-order from the usual suspects: Sprint stores Best Buy, and Radio Shack. So what’re you waiting for? Get your order in and show it off on June 4th!

Just in case you’ve been living under a rock, here are just some of the unbelievable specs of this behemoth of a phone: 1 GHz Snapdragon Processor, 4.3 inch screen – making this the biggest of all Android powered devices. 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 720p HD video recording, It’ll be released with android 2.1 – wont be long till we see the much anticipated 2.2 aka Froyo, running on this bad-boy, out-of-the-box 8gb micro SD card.

Oh, did we mention the 4G Wimax network? Or the 1.3mp camera on the front for video conferencing? (Presumably via the Qik application), or how about the kickstand? To watch videos or to take advantage of Sprint TV

Check out the full feature list on Sprint’s website

A few pictures have leaked of the Evo’s box, which is also pretty diesel itself; there’s been some speculation as to what’s in the box. Recently, a picture leaked on the Android forums this guy’s coming with: “Standard Lithium Ion Battery (1500mah), Phone Charger, USB Cable (micro), 8 GB memory card, Getting started Guide (English and Spanish), Basics Guide, and recycling envelope”

Not anything we haven’t seen before. Also, no mention of the rumored car dock.

So, with all of the ground breaking features and ridiculous power of The HTC Evo 4G, is it too early to say bye-bye iPhone?

    I for one – don’t think so.

    Stay tuned.

iPhoneWhiteandBlack.jpgThe new iPhone 4 arrives on June 24, and you can pre-order or reserve yours on June 15. There are two versions 16 GB edition priced at 9 and a 32 GB model priced at 9 at AT&T. iPhone 4 will come in white and black.

If we go into the Wireless and Mobile News way-back machine, we noted that some studies suggested that iPhone problems with AT&T were not due to the network but due to “antenna” and radio issues. The new iPhone 4 has an antenna built right into the case which should help a lot.

We discovered more features of the iPhone 4. For Facetime with Friends there is a new video chat app FaceTime.

FaceTime is lets you see friends anywhere there is Wi-Fi. Using FaceTime is as easy as making a regular voice call, with no set-up required, and you can instantly switch to the rear camera to show others what you are seeing with just a tap.

OS 4, has over 100 new features, including Multitasking, Folders, enhanced Mail, deeper Enterprise support and Apple’s new iAd mobile advertising platform. With Multitasking, users can now switch between any of their apps while preserving battery life. With Folders, users can organize their apps into collections by simply dragging one app on top of another.

The new iBook app will be available for iPhone 4 as a free download from the App Store and includes Apple’s new iBookstore, to browse, buy and read books on a mobile product. The iBooks app will sync your current place in a book, along with any bookmarks, highlights and notes you have created, between copies of the same book on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. iBooks users can also now read and store PDFs right in iBooks. There are now over 60,000 books available in the iBookstore, and users have downloaded over five million books in the first two months.

Steve Jobs also noted the new iPhone is environmentally friendly.

Phone 4 embodies Apple’s continuing environmental progress. It is
designed with the following features to reduce environmental impact:

    • PVC-free handset.
    • PVC-free headphones.
    • PVC-free USB cable.
    • Bromine-free printed circuit boards.
    • Mercury-free LCD display.
    • Arsenic-free display glass.
    • Majority of packaging made from post-consumer recycled
      fiberboard and biobased materials.
    • Power adapter outperforms strictest global energy efficiency .

AT&T will also offer current iPhone 3GS 16GB and 32GB models at new, lowered price points of 9 (16GB) and 9 (32GB), with a two-year term commitment plus voice and data plans, while supplies last.
