The most useful part is the ‘users manual” first drafts and warranty. The touchscreen has a light sensor. Your touchscreen might stay dark if the sensor just above it is covered. This feature will probably help with battery drain. The Droid Bionic will feature mobile hotspots and tethering.

The diagram shows a 4.3″ touchscreen it also looks like it has the new music/media player found in the Editors’ Choice Motorola Photon 4G. As previously leaked the Droid Bionic has HDMI mirroring and now features Netflix and induction charging.

The Droid Bionic is a global phone in that it has SIM card that can be activated for world travel. It is not clear it like the Motorola Photon that we reviewed today that can also connect to global 3G/4G data networks.

Here are all the specs found from the Motorola development website that appeared briefly for the Droid Bionic followed by what we learned today.

1GHz OMAP4430 dual-core processor.

1GB RAM.

4.3″ qHD touchscreen.

8MP camera.

HD video recording 1080p.

VGA front-facing camera.

HDMI 1.4 video output.

Android 2.3.4

Webtop-connectible.

4G LTE connectivity.

——–

SIM for gobal roaming.

Netflix.

HDMI mirroring.

Mobile hotspots.

A research paper (PDF) out of the North Carolina State University has outlined how Android vendors, including Motorola, Samsung and HTC, are not enforcing the standard Android permissions guidelines with pre-installed apps. As a result of this, applications that don’t explicitly ask for access to send SMS messages, read address books or even wipe the phone’s data are able to do just that.

While the vulnerabilities are less present on Google’s own phones, including the Nexus One and Nexus S, certain intrinsic weaknesses within Android were also uncovered, leading to potential permissions-based exploits. Google and its now-subsidiary Motorla have acknowledged the potential exploits, but the researchers cite having “experienced major difficulties” in reporting these issues to Samsung and HTC.

At this point it’s unlikely anyone has taken advantage of these exploits, as they would have to explicitly sideload an app onto the phone to interact with the pre-installed apps’ permissions weaknesses. Nevertheless the potential for trouble is there, and as always, we caution you on downloading any app from the Android Marketplace that does not appear from a legitimate, trustworthy seller. Be careful out there, folks.

Motorola spokeswoman Juli Burda confirmed to FierceWireless that effective immediately, Wyatt, who has been corporate vice president of software and services product management, will instead be running the company’s enterprise business for handsets as corporate vice president and general manager of enterprise. Wyatt was previously responsible for the strategy and planning of Motorola’s mobile software platforms, services, applications and experiences and the development of strategic partnerships.

Dave Rothschild, previously Motorola’s senior vice president of global software development and technologies for its mobile devices business, will take over Wyatt’s old post.

“After over six years with Motorola in software leadership roles, we are pleased to announce that Christy Wyatt will now lead enterprise for our mobile devices business unit,” Burda said. “Christy and her team will focus on solving real customer problems, such as critical IT device-policy management, enterprise security, productivity and content access and ensure the best products and solutions are available for mobile enterprise users around the world.”

The personnel move is one of the most significant Motorola has made since Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) announced plans in August to acquire Motorola for .5 billion. Burda said the change is not related to Google’s acquisition plans. Wyatt, who was named to FierceWireless‘ 2011 Most Influential Women in Wireless list (and is the only woman listed on Motorola’s executive team page), will continue to report to Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha.

Before joining Motorola in 2005, Wyatt was Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) worldwide developer relations director, where she was responsible for partners, global alliances and evangelism. Prior to that she was senior director at PalmSource, where she helped grow the firm’s developer community from 3,000 to 200,000 with more than 14,000 applications.

Motorola has been moving aggressively into the enterprise market with Android. “In enterprise, Android is gaining momentum by offering consumers and CIOs more choices,” Jha said during the company’s second-quarter earnings conference call, according to a Seeking Alpha transcript. “We are supporting ongoing enterprise trails and expanding our ready for business portfolio of smartphones and Webtop-enabled accessories. Upcoming devices will include more comprehensive security features, device management and enterprise support capabilities.”

Motorola has introduced three high-end smartphones–the Droid Bionic for Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ), Atrix for AT&T Mobility (NYSE:T) and the Photon for Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S)–which can be paired with a laptop dock and Motorola’s Webtop experience to give users desktop access to their phone content, as well as a desktop browsing experience powered by Mozilla’s Firefox browser. Jha said during the earnings call that Motorola plans on introducing two tiers of laptop docks, one that is cheaper for consumers and other that is more expensive with more of an emphasis on advanced capabilities for enterprises.

Jha also noted that with Motorola’s February acquisition of 3LM, which Motorola licenses to other Android handset makers, the company is leading in mobile device management for the platform. Motorola also intends to explore integrating videoconferencing capabilities with Polycom and others.

HTC Incredible S New Flavor Strawberry or Cranberry? – Typically, smartphones usually come in licorice black, but finally high-end Android smartphones are starting to show some diversity. A Danish retailer shows an HTC Incredible S in red, which one blogger thought was strawberry. It looks a bit more cranberry to us but could also be cherry red. The color we would really like to see for any smartphone is our wimonewsberry, the color of the Wireless and Mobile News’ website with a hint of fuchsia.
4GB storage onboard, and the battery is increased to 1450mAH. The Droid Incredible 2 appears on our list of top Android an’ Droid phones now and later.

Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) said its data pricing for the LTE version of the Motorola Mobility (NYSE:MMI) Xoom tablet will be the same as its EV-DO version of the gadget. However, it’s unclear whether this means that all future Verizon LTE tablets will have the same data pricing as the carrier’s EV-DO tablets.

Verizon’s pricing came to light in the details it provided for the new tablet, which recently went on sale. Xoom users will be able to upgrade their device to support Verizon’s LTE service for free sometime in the second quarter. (The Xoom currently supports Verizon’s EV-DO network.) Customers will have to ship the tablet to Motorola in a prepaid FedEx envelope, and the upgrade is expected to take six business days from the time customers ship the gadget to be complete.

In an FAQ explaining the process, Verizon said customers will not have to change their service plans when the LTE upgrade is complete. Verizon has said EV-DO data pricing for the Xoom falls under its previously established tablet pricing plans: 1 GB of data for per month; 3 GB for ; 5 GB for and 10 GB for . A Verizon spokeswoman, Brenda Raney, confirmed to FierceWireless that Xoom customers who buy the EV-DO version will not have to change their plans when they upgrade to LTE.

The nation’s largest carrier is selling the Xoom for 0 when paired with a two-year contract and 0 without a contract. At deadline, a Verizon spokeswoman could not clarify as to whether all future LTE tablets will have the same data pricing as the carrier’s current EV-DO tablets.

Last week at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, Spain, Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha said the Xoom is worth 0 (sans contract)–despite the fact that the 32 GB version of Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad with AT&T Mobility’s (NYSE:T) no-contract HSPA+ service retails for 9. “We felt that our ability to deliver 50 Mbps (via LTE) would justify the 9 price point,” Jha said. “It is 32 GB with 3G and a free upgrade to 4G. Being competitive with iPad is important. We feel that from the hardware and capabilities we deliver we are at least competitive and in a number of ways better [than the iPad].”

Verizon has said its LTE network delivers average real-world downlink performance of 5-12 Mbps and real-world uplink speeds of 2-5 Mbps.
